The Department of Research and Development, part of the Division of Mental Health Services at Akershus University Hospital, Norway, has an open 100 % position for a postdoctoral/early career researcher.
In this position, you will be the member of the research group focused on the Interplay of Somatic, Mental, and Neurodevelopmental Conditions (SOMIND) led by Associate Professor Agnieszka Butwicka. Primarily work will by related to the study Pathways to Good Mental Health Through Personalized Follow-up of Autistic Males and Females from Childhood to Adulthood (Pathway) funded by Helse Sør-Øst. The PATHWAY aims to tackle the challenges of mental disorders and suicidality among autistic individuals by developing an autism-specific framework for mental health providing foundation for personalized follow-up of autistic males and females from childhood through adulthood. Our longterm goal is to enhance mental health and patient safety and optimize healthcare resources for the overall well-being of autistic people.

The post-doctoral researcher will be employed at the Department of Research and Development, in the Division of Division of Mental Health Services at Akershus University Hospital. The department currently employs eigth full-time researchers, four post-doctoral researchers and six PhD students.

The position is a 3-year full-time position. Associate Professor Agnieszka Butwicka is the project leader.

Job description
The post-doctoral/early career researcher will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians in a project that utilizes different types of data from Norwegian Registers and the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). The duties will require the use of advanced statistics and high-performance computing resources.Qualifications
- Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD) in psychology, statistics, epidemiology, medicine, or other field relevant to the research conducted as part of the advertised position. The ideal candidate will have experience in several of these areas.
- Knowledge and experience with classic and modern statistical methods in mental health research
- Knowledge and practical skills in study designs and statistical analysis
- Experience in managing and analyzing data using advanced programming languages and software (e.g., R, Phyton, SAS).
- Exceptional organizational skills and project management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, along with experience with scientific writing.
Personal skills
- We are looking for ambitious, goal-oriented candidates who have a strong publication record and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- The candidates should have interest and/or demonstrated experience in mentoring PhD/Master’s students.
- The position is ideally suited for candidates who want to establish themselves as independent researchers/group leaders in the future and have the potential to obtain further external funding.
