Structural/Mechanical Engineers – Drilling Systems & Lifting Appliances

Due to an increasing demand for our services, particularly within the Offshore Wind Installation sector, we want to strengthen our team of structural/mechanical engineers. We are seeking candidates with a few years of relevant experience, but you are also welcomed to apply if you have recently graduated or will graduate soon.
Location is Oslo or Kristiansand, Norway.
Drilling Systems & Lifting Appliances is the main unit in DNV Maritime for approval of Lifting Appliances and Hoisting & Handling equipment to be installed on Mobile Offshore Units or Ships performing Offshore Lifting Operations, this typically being:
- Cranes and Handling Equipment for Wind Turbine Installation Units
- Cranes for Heavy Lift Units
- Offshore Cranes for construction or service work
- Walk to Work Equipment – Offshore Gangways
- Pipe Handling Equipment
- Drilling Hoisting equipment
- Lifts
- Life Saving Appliances
- Lifting Gear
The above activities are mainly related to new equipment, which is to be certified, but work also includes in-service support to our clients, assessment of modifications and repair work of equipment, life extension assessments, failure investigations etc.
DNV is a leading Classification Society for Mobile Offshore Unit`s & Special-Ships and we are currently engaged in numerous ongoing and upcoming large-scale projects worldwide.
The work will mainly consist of the following tasks:
- Review and approval of structural & mechanical designs
- Global strength & local strength assessments
- Perform independent analyses
- Support qualification of new technology
- Support the development of industry standards
- Support DNV surveyors during fabrication follow-up & commissioning
- Manage projects involving equipment manufacturers, rig and vessel owners, construction yards and ship/rig designers

Qualifications:
• MSc. degree within structural/mechanical engineering
• 3-5 Years of relevant experience
• Experience within Finite Element Modelling and analyses
• Experience within Lifting Appliances
• Experience within offshore structures
• Experience within programming, using e.g. Java, VBA or Python, is an advantage
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
