Position overview:
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented database analyst/special engineer with expertise in databases to join our research team. It`s a 100 % position for the period 1.May 2025 - 30.april 2027, starting date as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing curation and data analysis in the Prospective Lynch Syndrome Database (PLSD), which is currently operated using MySQL. The PLSD is an international, multicentre, prospective, and observational study that aims to provide age and organ-specific cancer risks according to gene and gender, estimates of survival after cancer, and information on the effects of interventions.

Your role:
- Design and maintenance of the PLSD database.
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and availability for prospective clinical and genetic datasets from international contributors.
- Conducting data analysis in the PLSD.
- Collaborating closely with the research team members to understand data needs and develop appropriate database solutions.
- Performing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Developing and maintaining documentation related to database structures, protocols, and workflows.
- Implementing best-practices in database management and data analysis.
- Modify and implement code for analyzing prospectively observed events, enabling replication or adaptation of analyses for third-party use.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Engage with cross-disciplinary teams to share insights and findings.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on data analysis results.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Competence in relational databases.
- Programming abilities.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database management tools.
- Experience in handling large datasets, particularly in the context of clinical data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with statistical and stochastic modeling.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
- Interest in scientific publication.
- Strong programming skills.
