Product Sales Manager, Thrusters
We are now looking for a Product Sales Manager, Thrusters to join our Thrusters and Propulsion Control Systems (T&PCS) Product Line team, working for a better future.
The T&PCS Product Line operates globally from several locations. For this position, we are looking for a person primarily located on Norway's West Coast. We have our offices in Rubbestadneset and Stord waiting for you. We are flexible for hybrid working models according to local practices.
What you will be doing
As a Product Sales Manager in the Thrusters and Propulsion Control Systems (T&PCS) Product Line, you will find yourself in the heart of the exciting world of the Maritime industry. The T&PCS Product Line of Wärtsilä Marine supervises the relevant business and provides a link between the market, the internal teams, and the external partners. The team controls, supports, and promotes the specific Wärtsilä products and technologies, used on ships all around the World. Specific focus is given to strategically important ship segments in offshore, cruise and ferries, tugboats, and various merchant vessels.
Your direct role will cover the sales activities of the T&PCS, especially those related to new markets identified among Scandinavian customers. You will support the existing baseline products of transverse thrusters, steerable thrusters, retractable thrusters, and new additions such as ElogridTM by Wärtsilä. You will support the area sales managers in promoting our products by coordinating supportive in-depth technical studies and highlighting the values that our solutions can provide to our customers.
For this position, we are looking for a sales-minded, technically oriented, knowledgeable, and passionate person who can support our strong sales growth. Your future sales focus will be primarily around various offshore segments.
As Product Sales Manager, Thrusters, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Work together with the front-line sales organizations to ensure that the propulsion products are correctly selected for our sales propositions
- Participate in sales capture teams
- Promote our products by making presentations to customers (owners, ship designers, and yards). Create and improve our value propositions supported by technical studies made in cooperation with various experts inside Wärtsilä.
- Open market possibilities for Wartsila propulsion products in areas/segments that are currently not fully addressed.
- Initiate, stimulate, and implement all necessary actions to improve the sales and the profitability of the T&PCS.
- Develop product marketing plan together with marketing organization and product managers.
- Actively search for opportunities and give presentations at various events to improve the visibility of our products and their values.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Preferably a Master’s degree in either Engineering, Naval Architecture or equal
- At least 5 years of relevant sales experience preferably in the marine sector
- Good understanding of the maritime industry and insight in the propulsion business
- Working experience inside of Norwegian Maritime Cluster
- General level technical understanding of hydrodynamics and propulsion products
- A highly dynamic strong personal drive, used to taking own initiatives and being pro-active
- A commercial and customer-oriented mindset
- Very good communication skills, and professional use of English in verbal and writing, Norwegian is seen as an advantage
In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately up to 40%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
