Telenor is now seeking a Senior Expert Network Systems, responsible for setting and executing strategic directions and high-level architecture principles.

As our new Senior Expert Open Network Systems, your purpose is to translate Open Network strategy and high-level architecture into business-led execution that enables business growth as well as scale benefits. Participation in execution of the strategy, through selected project activities is part of the role. This requires collaboration with different Telenor Business Areas as well as partners and industry arenas.

The role is part of the Telenor Group Technology unit and reports to Vice President Technology Advisory in Shared Technology Competence Center.

Some of your main responsibilities:

• Define strategic directions, participate in creating Open Network architecture principles and engage in detailing execution plans applicable for Telenor Business Areas.
• Develop Open API strategy, architecture documents and execution plans including anchoring, approval and communication.
• Coordinate across Business Areas, align Open network strategy and architecture status and plans with relevant stakeholders and functional teams within Telenor.
• Define the strategy for Open Network, Open API and IT systems integration and elaborate ways of implementing in practice.
• Participate and engage in cross-unit work and selected strategy execution projects with Business Areas, collaborate with partners and relevant industry arenas on technology focus areas.
• Communicate and represent Telenor views in various external arenas with vendors and partners.

Preferred experience and qualifications:

• Expertise in telecom network architecture across domains (radio, transport, fixed, core) combined with strong IT systems knowledge, particularly in OSS (Operations Support Systems).
• Expertise in API development and management, specifically in the context of network openness and integration between IT and network systems.
• Experience in modernizing traditional telecom infrastructure towards cloud-native and API-driven architectures, with understanding of open network principles.
• Familiarity with network automation and orchestration.
• Experience with API-first approaches and open architectures.
• Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders.

We seek a telecom strategy professional with excellent analytical and communication skills, with strong ability to collaborate and interact effectively across organizational and cultural boundaries, internally and externally, locally and globally. You are solution oriented and translate technology and business trends into strategic directions, architecture guidelines and execution plans that are clear and actionable.

Experience from a complex organization, in combination with technological expertise, is key to succeeding in this role. You have a business and outcome mindset founded on strong understanding of current and future telecom networks. You have higher education, preferably with a master’s degree.
