GE Vingmed Ultrasound AS, a part of GE HealthCare, is a world leader in medical ultrasound imaging. We are now seeking an intermediate to senior level C++ software developer to strengthen our Handheld Ultrasound R&D team. You will join a global team of highly motivated expert engineers with a focus on topics such as ultrasound image processing, algorithm, and platform development. Responsibilities- Design, implement, and test C++ software for cross-platform, hand-held medical ultrasound applications
- Design, implement, and test high-performance GPU image-processing algorithms for mobile devices (iOS, Android)
- Write software that is robust, well documented, maintainable, and extensible - both for new developments and when extending or changing existing code
- Write software that is testable and well covered with unit tests
- Efficiently work in an agile team of highly skilled developers with mutual coaching through design discussions and code review
- Work with a cross-disciplinary team of product owners, usability experts, and clinical experts to understand user value and shape product requirements that can be implemented on time, on cost
- Relentlessly pursue world-class product quality and user experience
- You hold a degree in computer science or one of the STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with advanced experience.
- You have extensive experience with software development using modern C++ (C++11 and later).
- You have experience in designing and implementing complex software systems and architectures. In doing so, you choose fitting, properly documented abstractions and efficient implementations.
- You work efficiently with existing code bases. You are comfortable refactoring also large parts of legacy code where necessary to fulfill a task.
- You understand the value of unit tests as an enabler for safe code changes. You treat tests like product code and ensure sufficient test coverage for both new code and changes to existing code.
- You have experience with image-processing algorithms and how to harness GPUs to implement them for maximum performance. You have experience with graphics-programming libraries such as OpenGL, D3D, Vulkan, or WebGPU.
- Experience with C++ cross-platform development for macOS, iOS, and Android
- Experience with application and UI development with Qt and QML
- Experience with building complex cross-platform C++ applications with modern CMake
- Experience with continuous-integration tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins
- Experience with distributed code-versioning workflows with git
- Beyond your exceptional technical expertise, you are able to efficiently and clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You can explain complex technical topics in simple ways without compromising correctness. You listen actively to avoid misunderstandings.
- You are able to solve difficult problems independently, also when faced with overwhelming odds and setbacks. In doing so, you don't hesitate to seek information and help where necessary.
- You are able to apply a first-time-right attitude in a highly regulated environment where changes are expensive, striking a balance between speed and perfection.
