Postdoctoral research position in artificial intelligence for neuroimaging
Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoc research position with the possibility for further engagements at the Department of Physics and Computational Radiology, Oslo University Hospital.
The candidate will deploy innovative artificial intelligence methodologies for neuroimaging as part of the research project titled INDIRECT - Imaging drug delivery in brain cancer by the intrathecal route with support from South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. In this project, we are using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for disease of the brain, and brain tumor diagnostics in particular. The main aim of the project is to use advanced imaging methods to assess drug delivery to human brain by the intrathecal, non-blood route.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial for solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions, and we encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply!
Work tasks
The project capitalizes on existing infrastructure and patient flow at the hospital and has established a state-of-the-art imaging pipeline for patients with neurologic disease. In collaboration with our research team and collaborators, the postdoctoral candidate’s main responsibility will be to develop, implement and evaluate deep learning-based analysis pipelines for the following tasks:
- MR image segmentation of enlarged perivascular space for disease assessment
- Develop a probabilistic model of intrathecal MR tracer enrichment signatures in the brain based on retrospective data
- Improve signal and quality of our MR image protocols using AI-based reconstruction algorithms.
The applicant will be part of a research group on MRI Research & Technology headed by Dr. Kyrre E. Emblem, at the Department of Physics and Computational Radiology: https://www.ous-research.no/emblem/
The research group collaborates closely with many national and international researcher in Europe and the US, with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis- and treatment response assessment in patients with neurological disorders.
The applicant will also be part of the Computational Radiology and Artificial Intelligence (CRAI) section providing top-end support in the design and implementation of deep learning models (www.crai.no), as well as a new K.B. Jebsen Centre for Research on Neurofluids at the University of Oslo.
