Embedded Software Engineer
We are looking for a talented and experienced Embedded Software Engineer who will play a leading role in the development of our down-hole drilling tools. Canrig Drilling Technology (NORWAY) AS is a company with a strong ambition to create industry-leading, downhole products for Advanced Wellbore Placement. As a member of the Control System group, you will join a team of embedded SW and electronics HW engineers responsible for developing a dedicated high-temperature electronics platform, as well as the complete control system capable of fully autonomous directional drilling using Rotary Steerable Technology.
Duties and responsibilities
To prepare and update design specifications with respect to the software and electronics interfaces in our directional drilling tools.
To develop and update the tool's software and firmware.
To develop and optimize the software to monitor and control the tool's trajectory, based on numerous sensor inputs and control objectives.
To conduct testing and assist in the overall system qualification work for the complete Rotating Steerable System.
To participate in the cross-functional design and development of new products and test equipment for Canrig DrillingTechnology.
To develop and maintain a strong understanding of the complete drilling system and conditions, understand customer needs, monitor competitorproducts and stay abreast of technology trends.
To maintain a technology roadmap for the further development of the control system.
Qualifications
University degree (BSc, MSc or equivalent) in information technology/software development although relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
At least 5 years of embedded software/firmware design, strong skills in 'C' programming, as well as a good understanding of electronics.
Good understanding of engineering practices and quality procedures.
Mastery of oral and written communication in English, with to interact with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders.
Personal qualities
Proven ability to work systematically and independently in his/her approach to analysis, design and problem-solving.
Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
Ability to take initiative and drive for results.
