What we’re looking for
The Senior Manager Data Analytics is the leader of the Data and Analytics Unit, playing a key role in collecting, processing, managing and utilizing shipping and operational data across Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
As the scope of work impacts the organization globally, it is crucial that the data provided is up-to-date, usable, and of high quality to enable data-driven decision-making. It is the responsibility of the Senior Manager Data Analytics to oversee implementation of analytics solutions to deliver operational insight and improvement, foster a data-driven business culture and be a link between the business and Technology&Information team.
To succeed in this role, you need to have the right combination of hands-on technical expertise within data and analytics, the ability to grasp the business context and good leadership skills, enabling you to engage stakeholders across departments and nurture your own team.
Responsibilities
- Serving as a leader within the data analytics space, enabling the organization to work in a more data-driven manner by providing data, analytics and visibility tools.
- Team management, development and coaching - ensuring the team has enough capacity and competence to deliver on key strategy points
- Overseeing that vessel operational data assets are available, relevant, compliant, and structured in a way to enable reporting, analysis or information needs in the organization.
- Acting as the necessary link between the business, Technology & Information team, direct reports and end users. Performing the functions of data/digital products owner, task delegator and manager.
- Owning and being responsible for backlog estimation and prioritization alongside key stakeholders in Marine Operations and Technology & Information.
- Driving the end-to-end process for developing or purchasing user- and business-driven analytics solutions - from ideation and prioritization to market screening, resourcing, development, and implementation.
Qualifications
- At minimum a Bachelor’s degree (preferably a Master’s degree) in an engineering or quantitative degree with industrial working experience.
- At minimum 5 years of working experience, including data analytics leadership experience and exposure to people management previously.
- Proven track record of understanding business needs, driving realization of business-aligned analytics solutions and fostering a data-driven culture.
- Demonstrated track record within data modeling, reporting tools, statistical analysis, data/machine learning, mining, and data visualization.
- Good experience with the following technology stack: SQL, Python, Excel, Databricks, data pipelines, API, advanced analytics, visualization tools suitable for high-granularity data, and developing Machine Learning algorithms.
- Experience with Cloud (ideally Azure) and high-granularity IoT data.
- Fluent in English (verbally and written) with excellent communication skills and be able to simplify complex concepts and communicate them to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to haves:
- Ideally, experience working with maritime/shipping data in global organizations.
- Strong experience with high-frequency data visualization
