MatvareExpressen is looking for an Operations Manager for Stavanger department. The department has today approximately 60 employees working across Packing, Consolidation, Transport, Purchasing, Inbound and Customer Service teams. 

As Operations Manager you will be accountable for success of the daily activities related to sourcing, warehousing, logistics and distribution, customer service, as well as department personnel and economy. You will also be expected to work on process improvement, strategy and long-term planning. 

A modern and automatized warehouse based on AutoStore technology will be under your supervision, with a complex and dynamic inventory of dry, fresh, chilled and frozen food products along with hobby and household supplies. This requires precision and care in all operational aspects – from understanding the technology solutions and product turnaround limits to designing smooth-running outbound and delivery routines and ensuring excellent customer service.  

At MatvareExpressen we expect our managers to lead by example and engage in day-to-day operational activities, when possible, to get to know the team members and process, and identify areas for improvement. 

Tasks: 

• Lead the team and manage performance, 

• Build a good company and team culture based on MatvareExpressen`s values and goals, 

• Plan and follow up on department budget and cost, 

• Plan and optimize end-to-end operations activities and adequate resources, 

• Advise on and contribute to improve company`s efficiency, growth and results, 

• Ensure safety, quality and top performance in all operational areas, 

• Cooperate with other Departments and Hubs to establish best practice and ensure excellent customer experience both regionally and nationally. 

Experience and Qualifications: 

• Higher level education, at least bachelor (ideally in economy, supply chain or management), but long and relevant experience can compensate for lack of formal education, 

• Relevant experience from food, beverage or household goods wholesaler, distributor or warehouse and logistics, 

• Computer literate and experienced user of Warehouse Management System, Transport Management System, Product & Inventory applications, Web-shop solutions, Resource planning applications etc.  

• Experience with business analytics and KPIs, as well as cost and economy processes. 

Personal characteristics: 

• Strong and clear leader with effective communication skills in both verbal and written, 

• Including and open – with good social and people skills, 

• Practical – solution and goal orientated, 

• Ability to make quick decisions and prioritize efficiently according to business goals and ambitions.
