About the job

We have a temporary position available at the NTNU Business School as Postdoctoral Fellow for a period of 3 or 4 years. The position is resident at NTNU’s campus in Trondheim, Norway. The position is connected to the NTNU Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics at the NTNU Business School, and the Faculty of Economics and Management will be your employer.

Background
NTNU Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics currently consists of fourteen researchers including post doctors and PhD candidates at the NTNU Business School. Our research area is real estate economics in a broad sense, with a special focus on environmental issues. We are an interdisciplinary research group in real estate with expertise in finance, economics, marketing, transport economics, and environmental and resource economics.

The Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics at NTNU Business School has multiple projects related to real estate economics and finance; hence the position will have the flexibility and opportunity to focus on certain research areas. For example, areas may be (not limited to):

  • Automated valuation models (AVM)
  • Big data in real estate
  • Housing bubble prediction
  • Housing preferences
  • Housing price indexes
  • Energy efficiency in real estate
  • Sustainable housing
  • Reuse in the construction industry
  • Green and compact living environment
  • Environmental risk

Your immediate leader is Head of Department


Duties of the position
  • The position allows the postdoctoral fellow to continue their own research activities and explore ideas within real estate economics and finance.
  • You are expected to contribute to international conferences and publish in international peer reviewed journals.
  • Develop and engage in research proposals.
  • You are expected to help build activity and collaboration within the NTNU Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics.

Required selection criteria
  • Completion of a Norwegian doctoral degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics research, or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree is required. Candidates in the final stages of their PhD may also apply.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English

Factors that will contribute positively to the evaluation and that should be documented in the application:

  • Knowledge of methods and models within the field of Real Estate Economics and Finance
  • Publications of research in recognized international journals within the field relevant to the position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both technical and administrative staff
  • Project management or project development experience
  • Inter-disciplinary experience
  • Documented experience of working with international partners in Europe (or similar international collaboration or stays abroad)
  • Teaching experience and pedagogical qualifications

The appointment is to be made in accordance with Regulations on terms of employment for positions such as postdoctoral fellow, Ph.D Candidate, research assistant and specialist candidate.

Salary and conditions

As a Postdoctoral Fellow (code 1352) you are normally paid from gross NOK 594 500 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund

Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.

The period of employment is 3 years without duty work or 4 years including duty work.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU.

After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.

It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution on a daily basis.
