Postdoctoral position in  bioinformatics

The Vilhelm Magnus Research Laboratory is subordinate to the neurosurgical departments at Oslo University Hospital and aims to develop new targeted treatment for brain tumors. We need to strengthen our expertise in advanced molecular analyses, and are therefore looking for a researcher with significant experience in whole genome sequencing and sequence analysis.

Duties and responsibilitier

Develop and optimize bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data relevant to functional drug screen of patient derived cell cultures including single cell analysis.
Implement quality control measures and data preprocessing techniques to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analyses.
Collaborate with experimental biologists to integrate genomic data with other omics data types for comprehensive cancer characterization.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics and genomics, incorporating innovative approaches into pipeline development.

Qualifications

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Perl.
Experience with bioinformatics tools and resources for analyzing genomic data, such as SAMtools, BWA, GATK, and variant calling algorithms

Experience with NGS single cell bioinformatic analysis

Proficiency in working with high-throughput sequencing data in combination with functional data is relevant.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
