Job description

Applicants are invited for a 3 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in bioinformatic analysis of immunological studies to be based at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary group, in a strong academic environment, focusing on immune system of the Atlantic cod.


More about the position

The appointment is a fulltime position and for a period of three years.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

The successful candidate for this position will work in the multidisciplinary group lead by Professor Qiao in close collaboration with Professor Finn-Eirik Johansen. The main research focus of the group is to study the unique immune system of the Atlantic cod, which lacks MHC class II molecules and CD4 T cells. The group uses cutting-edge technology within molecular biology, modern high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics. The project studies the transcriptional profile of cod immune cells at the single-cell level, and mapping of the immune receptor repertoire of cod B and T cells.


Qualification requirements
  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in immunology or bioinformatics. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • The candidate must have thorough understanding of data analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.
  • The candidate must have relevant background in data analysis of single-cell transcriptomics and immune receptor sequencing.
  • Knowledge in fish immunology, in particular in cod immunology is preferable
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
