Job description / Project description / Development plan:

Description of job/project.

This postdoctoral project focuses on the climate impacts of aerosol perturbations in the form of volcanic eruptions or related to various proposed Solar Radiation Management strategies. There is a particular interest in how such aerosol perturbations would impact high-latitude climate, both through aerosol-radiation and aerosol-cloud interactions. The research tool will primarily be the Norwegian Earth System Model (NorESM), and prior experience with that modeling tool or a comparable one would therefore be very beneficial. The postdoctoral fellow will become a member of the aerosol-cloud-climate research group at MetOs and is expected to participate actively in all group- and MetOs-related activities. The research group has a wide range of international collaborators, and extended visits to one or more of these collaborators over the course of the fellowship will be possible.

The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to complete the project in the course of the period of employment.
