About the Job
We are looking to expand our team with 2 Researchers/ Project Managers with a background in architecture, urban design or planning, or similar professions. The successful applicants will work with our team’s portfolio of Mission-driven and New European Bauhaus-inspired projects, to design, implement and document:
- Impact pathways (sequences of steps or processes through which an intervention, project, or policy achieves intended outcomes and unintended side effects) at the intersection of environmental, spatial, social, cultural, economic, governance and quality of life perspectives
- Co-benefits (complementary, often unplanned positive effects that accompany the primary objectives of a project, making the initiative more impactful and beneficial in multiple dimensions, for different stakeholder groups)
NTNU Smart Sustainable Cities has a large portfolio of externally funded projects in collaboration with public authorities, private, cultural and creative sectors, and communities and grassroot organisations. We want to strengthen the team with 2 Researchers / Project Managers who can contribute to the CrAFt, NEB-STAR, Re-Value, Bauhaus Bites and ClimaGen projects (funded by Horizon Europe, EU Missions on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities and Adaptation to Climate Change in cooperation with the New European Bauhaus). The Researchers / Project Managers will also contribute to the development and implementation of new strategic projects and activities in cities and communities, in support of the European Green Deal.

- Recognising and promoting co-benefits between environmental, governance, economic, social, cultural, and health considerations, to inspire innovative approaches, foster multi-actor collaboration and cultivate environments that are more sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetically enriching
- Analysing and summarising the performance of cities and communities using suitable methods and key performance indicators, both relying on existing know-how and competence in software tools and on the acquisition of new knowledge and competence in other urban simulation tools, platforms and assessment frameworks
- Daily management of EU-funded projects, in close collaboration with the project coordination team including quality assurance of work carried out, collaboration with partners, tracking workflows, documentation of results, reporting,, and financial and risk management in line with local and European priorities.
- Close cooperation with and follow-up of European project partners
- Development and quality assurance of new co-creation-based knowledge
- Communication of this knowledge in scientific and societal publications
- Development and implementation of new strategic projects and activities, with particular emphasis on projects linked to the European Missions on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, Adaptation to Climate Change, and Oceans and Waters, and the New European Bauhaus initiative
