Applicants are invited for a position as Researcher (SKO 1109) in proteomics analysis of host-cell response to Marburgvirus in the EU-funded project COMBINE. The position is funded for a period of five years, based at the Proteomics unit in Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.


More about the position

The appointment is a fulltime position. The applicant will work on an EU funded project ‘COMBINE- Comparative Signature Of Marburg Virus Cell Activation As A Blueprint For The Identification Of Antiviral Targets Against Newly Emerging Viruses’ in a multidisciplinary team with partners in several countries. 

The main focus of the team at UiO is to use advanced proteomics techniques to characterise host cell signalling pathways activated by Marburg virus in multiple human cell types. The Proteomics unit in UiO has state-of-the art facilities for modern mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and there is strong focus on proteomics method development by multiple partner groups in COMBINE.


Qualification requirements
  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in proteomics/ immunology/ biochemistry.
  • The candidate must have a thorough understanding, and practical experience from mass spectrometry-based proteomics. 
  • The candidate must have experience with proteomics data analysis. Experience with mammalian cell culture work is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in human immunology and/or cellular signalling is an advantage. 
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Salary in position as Researcher, position code 1109 in salary range NOK 579 700  – 665 000 depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2 percent is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund.
