Golden retriver

Vakker gammel, vintage hundefigur fra Szeiler, antatt fra 60 tallet(utifra stempel under) Hunden er en Labrador retriever og den er stor, hele 24 cm lang. Den er håndlagd og håndmalt. Den har noe krakkeleringer, men er ellers veldig god stand og veldig vakker. Fin pynt eller samlefigur. Se bilder.

Litt om kunstneren: Studio Szeiler was the pottery studio of Joseph Szeiler, an Hungarian born in 1924. The son of a master butcher, he decided to study to become a veterinary surgeon at Budapest University. After two and a half years however, he left university and Hungary because of the political climate. He spent a short time in Austria before deciding to come to Britain in 1948 with the intention of becoming a coal miner. However, there were restrictions in place on employing foreign workers in the coal industry and he found himself unemployed. Eventually, he was permitted to apply for work in the potteries and over the next few years he worked for several potteries where he learnt how to make models and moulds and how to cast, glaze and decorate. He supplemented his on the job learning by going to evening clases at the Burslem School of Art.

By 1951, he had saved enough money to rent a room and start his own business, making animals and figures from his own moulds. By 1955 he was able to open his own studio – Studio Szeiler. Joseph Szeiler, who died in 1987, is best known for his animals and for money boxes, vases and dishes.
