Feeling alone and not fit to do anything now that she’s a lady, Eliza discovers she can’t even go home. She turns to Henry Higgin’s mother, who is delighted to have her.

Mrs. Higgins sympathizes with Eliza as Eliza recounts the previous evening. She’s appalled to hear her son and Colonel Pickering congratulated each other on Eliza’s success at the door, Mrs. Higgins quickly reminds Eliza to behave like a princess.

And behave like a princess, Eliza continues to do. Looking absolutely beautiful in her pink organza gown, she graciously greets Henry, and offers him tea. But Henry, upset because Eliza has left, becomes even more frustrated as Eliza plays the game he has taught her.

Eliza calmly continues, reminding Henry that his manners aren’t as good as Colonel Pickering’s. With her indomitable spirit, new vocalbulary and social skills, Eliza parries every word, every emotion from Henry. She finds her inner strength and realizes she can get along without him. When Henry proclaims Eliza as magnificent, she calmly says, "Goodbye".

Surprised, angry, and totally confused, Henry (clearly out of his element) marches home. He realizes he loves Eliza and will never see her again. As he sadly listens to her voice on his gramophone, Eliza appears, a romantic vision in pink, her ruffled hat softly framing her beautiful face and large brown eyes. She is smiling. She has come home.
