This little farmhouse that dates of the 19th century, is located in a quiet area not too far away from the village with an impressive medieval château “Refuge de la Reine Margot” (visit). With its Chiné-designed interior and furniture that create a cheerful and calming effect, it reflects a typical family house. Situated on the high plateau of the Quercy, right on the hiking way GR46 between the steep valleys of the river Lot and the river Aveyron, this farmhouse offers an ideal departure point for discovering the great tourist attractions of the Southern French region Midi-Pyrénées as Cordes-sur-Ciel, Saint Cirq Lapopie, Najac, etc. or for exploring the natural park of Causses du Quercy. In the house on the ground floor, the living room with its big table, the salon and the chimney (firewood provided on demand) offer you a plain rural welcoming. The kitchen right next to it with en electric kitchen range (four fires), dishwasher, fridge-deepfreeze-combination, etc. has been equipped according to nowadays modern needs. The living room has a direct exit on a covered and shady terrace where you will enjoy to eat on hot summer days. Two big steps made of local stone lead to a sleeping room with a double bed. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms (two of them with a double bed, one with two single beds). The big salon that during the day is bathed in light, has a TV-set with DVD reader, a library and board games – the ideal room to have cosy evenings with your family or your friends. The bed linens and bath towels will be provided. Two baby cots and two baby highchairs can be put to your disposal on demand. The garden fits harmonically into the landscape of the Causse. It is enclosed by little stone walls and enables you to savour the savoir-vivre of South France: a long lunch or a little siesta in the shades. In front of the house erases a 300 years old giant maple tree that the property had been named after; nowadays it gives as a summer present its beneficial shade. The swimming pool (11 m x 5.5 m) with its three big steps invites for a refreshing and relaxing swim in front of the magnificent setting offered by the Quercy landscape. The swimming-pool disposes of an alarm system. The pool and garden (every 3 days) are maintained by the owners, giving you a chance to speak a little French!. Garden furniture, gazebo/garden house, table tennis set, pétanque game, and a BBQ are provided. The region The medieval village of Caylus is 10 Kms away (pigeonniers and mill houses along the River Bonnette’s road), stayed on his hillock in a circular valley, with a number of cafes, shops, restaurants, bank, doctors, dentist, chemist and a “cave” where you can buy fine local wine. There is a recreational lake with a good children’s play area. Locally there are a wide range of leisure activities to suit all ages including canoeing, kayaking, horse-riding, tennis, caving, cycling, rock climbing and fishing. The countryside is open to walkers. Discover the treasure of the Quercy, renowned for its beauty: tiny lanes, wildlife, wild flowers, Lot Valley and Aveyron Valley, prehistoric caves, many chateaux, medieval villages (Saint Antonin Noble Val, Saint Cirq Lapopie, Cordes sur Ciel, etc.). It is a great fruit growing area. Frequents markets are well stocked with quality fruits and vegetables, wine (Cahors, Gaillac), “confit”, “cassoulet”, “foie gras”, “truffes”; There are a feast of village traditions with bands, dance, local crafts, bowls, and firework displays. Slightly further afield you will find the famous village of Rocamadour, the Bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue and the Cathedral towns of Albi ( Toulouse Lautrec Museum), Montauban, Cahors and Toulouse.
