Holiday home in a former mill from the 18th century. With 10 000 m² of land and pool
Rancio Valcuvia
The mill: Built in 1720, the former mill is situated in a green oasis at the confluence of two prealpine torrents, which once fed the mill wheel and thus kept the mill and its life connected for centuries. The crops grown in the surrounding area, B. Wheat, rye and barley were ground here until the beginning of the industrial age, as everywhere, brought about radical changes and the mill was converted into a sawmill. The millstone was dismantled and machines such as a tree saw, band saw, drill, etc. were installed, which made a profitable woodworking possible. All these devices were connected by leather straps to the mill wheel, were kept in such a way and still functioned until the 1970er years. Even today, there is a room in the former mill where one can look at the devices and transmissions as witnesses of a period of time that brought incredible changes around the world. In the middle of the calm and idyllic, approximately 10,000 m² of partly wooded property lies the approximately 1.000 m² main building, which was restored by the architect living there with love, competence and especially Herzblut for years. In doing so, he placed great emphasis on preserving the original structures and, with the help of regional materials, succeeded in striking an architectural bridge between the past and the present, without affecting the original character of the mill. The apartments: The former mill offers eight 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments furnished in antique style, each with a well-equipped kitchenette, a washing machine and satellite TV. All apartments have free wi-fi internet access and a communal outdoor area consisting of a 10,000 m² plot with table, benches and barbecue, as well as a pool (15 mx 6 m), which is open from approx.
