The space Our home is a beautifully restored 400-year-old town house located in a quiet yet central street in the historical walled city of Cospicua which is part of the stunning Three Cities. The house overlooks the impressive Dock One waterfront and you’ll be just a few metres from the many charming cafes which overlook the waterfront and where you will be served your breakfast included with your accommodation. You will be staying in a large double bedroom which has its own private bathroom, and there is an optional third bed in an adjoining room. The bedroom opens up onto a small Spanish style central courtyard and you can enjoy the use of it as well as the rooftop garden (with kitchenette and toilet) which offers both an opportunity to privately work on your suntan as well as enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Three Cities and the Grand Harbour. If you should be interested to try out a bit of painting or sketching while on vacation, Caroline is a full-time artist and tutor (her art gallery is part of the house) and would be happy to arrange some tuition classes with you. A note to guests with allergies: we have 2 cats living with us. Guest access The floor of the entrance hallway features beautiful original Maltese tiles. Walking up the wooden staircase you will enter our internal courtyard which we have had renovated in a Spanish style. Now you can sit there, relax and enjoy a cuppa tea or coffee, and look up at the sky and maybe get a feel for what the day’s weather might be like! From the courtyard you access your guestroom. This is the coolest room in the house! In winter you won’t need a heater (unless it’s an exceptionally cold period) and in summer you won’t need air-conditioning even on the hottest days. The fan will do. Upon entering your guestroom, you will find in the far right corner a small doorway which leads into the adjoining room with space for a single bed, and the bathroom. The bathroom is perhaps the quirkiest area in the house. It has a subterranean feel to it and that’s because it is! There is an air vent in the back wall which opens onto Oratory Street-don’t be alarmed if you hear voices early in the morning-it’ll be the locals making their way to church! From the courtyard you follow the staircase up to the roof garden. You may find at first that it’s a bit of a climb. Halfway up there’s a door which opens onto another beautiful feature of these old houses-a stone carved spiral stairway. Stepping out on the roof, we guarantee that you will be blown away by the view. Spread out as far as the horizon lies the magnificent Three Cities and a glimpse of Valletta skyline in the distance. To the left you will see the imposing church bell tower. On the roof you are welcome to use the kitchenette and loo and if you want to work on your tan we have some deckchairs up there. (A note for guests who are smokers, we ask that you only use the roof and the courtyard to light up.) Interaction with guests We've lived in the Three Cities since 2007 and are happy to help you discover more about the remarkable area we live in. We will gladly advise you on where to go (both within the Three Cities area and further afield), what to see, what to do, where to wine and dine, where to swim and where to go for picturesque walks. We can give you tips on getting around using either the bus service or the Grand Harbour ferry or by car. Other things to note If you are not hiring your own car, we suggest that before you travel you visit: (URL HIDDEN) - to purchase bus passes which enable you to have cheaper bus fares.
