Becas's House, a place to relax

The peace, the quiet, the mountains, the river, the flavors, the smells, everything is so unique in this Portuguese hidden treasure which is Beira Baixa, where this house is located. At Becas's House, we tried to honor the surroundings by creating a comfortable atmosphere on the inside, but we definitely privileged the outdoor space - which originally was much smaller (photos of the house's transformation can be found inside the house). Becas's House has two bedrooms, a living room with a nice and cozy fireplace for cooler days, a modern kitchen and a bathroom with a shower cabin. Outside, a large pateo with a beautiful porch embellished by plants, the perfect place to relax and have meals in the warmer days. You can access every part of the house, including the outside storage room, where all the outdoor furniture is kept. I will be happy to assist you in every way that can make your stay (even) more memorable! You can call me anytime. At Pedrogão Pequeno (five minute drive from the house, fifteen minute walk, give or take), you can find a supermarket, which is also a tool store, a café and a petrol station (these multifunctional spaces are very tipically Portuguese, particularly in the less urban places). We call it Dona Esmeralda (a very nice lady, who is the owner, together with her husband Mr. António and son Ricardo). There - in the supermarket.- you can find a lot of varied products, fresh fruit and vegetables and wonderful local cheese and chouriço (a kind of Portuguese sausage, slightly bigger than the average). You also have Café Gerações, behind the local market, where you can have meals (the food is quite ok and at reasonable prices, although it can sometimes be a noisy place at lunch time). Just beside Café do Mercado - you can't miss it, it is on the main road of Pedrogão Pequeno - lies the local market (Mercado), which only opens on Sunday mornings. You should not miss going there - it is the perfect opportunity to watch an important part of Pedrogão Pequeno's life - and also get delicious local products (cheese, chorizo, local bread, fruit and vegetables) at extremely cheap prices. The best way to reach Becas's House is by car; there are buses that go from Lisbon to Sertã, and then from Sertã to Pedrogão Pequeno. It's a twenty minute walk from the bust stop to the house (more or less, depending on your fitness.), always going with a car you will be able to visit the region more freely. Pets are not allowed; smokers will be welcomed outside the house, in the large pateo (cigarrette buts should always be placed in the ashtrays and not thrown somewhere - it is a very hot region in the summer, and fires occur now and then). It is a family friendly house, so we have some children furniture and other kids's stuff for them to have the best possible time!
