This spacious, quirky and very comfortable 18th century farmhouse has huge rooms, antique furnishings. every modern comfort and a perfect central location off the main tourist track. A wonderful retreat from everyday life, it's off the beaten track but within easy reach of both national and local attractions and events. The house is on our organic working farm set in 900 acres of unspoiled hill, moor and pasture at the foot of the Pentland Hills. Spacious rooms, stunning views and modern facilities combined with original art and antiques makes Weston the ideal retreat from everyday stresses and a great base from which to explore south and central Scotland. As well as our organic farm and livestock management, we participate in a number of environmentally sustainable land management programmes designed to encourage plant and bird diversity. Please remember that the house is on a proper working farm. Cows moo and bulls bellow and tractors can make the yard muddy. Please don't wash your car before you come - and do bring wellies or sturdy boots. And if you have children, please take care to follow safety rules set out in the house manual. The house is on two levels. A private entrance porch with cloakroom off leads the kitchen on the ground floor. This then leads into the dining room/study/hall and stone staircase to the two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. The sitting room is at the end of the house next to the dining room and there is a front porch giving access to the garden. Every room (including the bathroom) have wonderful views over the garden and the valley to the hills beyond. One bedroom has a kingsize bed, the other has twin beds. The beds have wonderfully comfortable pocket sprung mattresses, feather and down duvets (synthetic available on request), pure cotton or linen bedding, choice of pillows and electric blankets. Rooms have hairdryers. An extra bed can be provided in the twin room on request. The bathroom has a full-size bath with overhead thermostatic ‘watering can’ shower and there is always plenty of hot water. The sitting room with tapestry sofas, wood burning stove, TV with streaming channels (Netflix, NowTV, Amazon) and DVDs is a great place to relax. The dining room/study/hall with lots of books to browse and quality hi-fi with a wide selection of CDs provides an extra space to sit and read, play music or eat. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, coffee maker and a good range of pots, dishes, china and glassware. There is free unlimited WiFi throughout the house. Guests also have full use of the large, well-stocked garden planted mostly with flowering perennials, specimen trees and a herb garden and supplied with garden benches and seating. There is also a barbecue. Guests are free to walk or ride round the whole farm (subject to checking with us first which parts to avoid or take care on due to stock). There is a wonderful walk along the disused railway line and through fields to the Neolithic Henge (listed by Historic Scotland as a site of special scientific interest) at the far end of the farm and another around the specially protected wetland habitat. There are also stunning walking along old drove roads into the Pentland Hills and access to many well marked walks a short drive away, including the Falls of Clyde and Tinto Hill. Prices include linen, towels and utilities (electricity, oil, WiFi). A complimentary basket of logs is provided in winter. Additional baskets charged at £5 per basket. An additional charge of £50 per week is made for electricity and oil for stays of one month or more, payable to the owner during the stay. The nearest shop is at Carnwath (5 miles) and the nearest town is Biggar (8 miles). There is a range of restaurants and pubs at Biggar and West Linton.
