A delightful cottage in the centre of a village in the picturesque wine-growing area of Centre-Loire, best known for Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume wines. Mesves sur Loire is nestled between Pouilly sur Loire (6 kms) and La Charite sur Loire (7 kms). La Charite is a medieval town with an Abbey which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town walls form part of the Route of Santiago de Compostela. The cottage is spacious and has been extensively renovated and modernised during 2016. You enter the bright and modern accommodation via an open plan living and dining area. It has a comfortable sofa and chairs, with a dining table and chairs for candle-lit dining. The separate kitchen has been equipped with quality appliances, washing machine, dishwasher, full-sized oven, four ring induction hob, extractor fan and fridge/freezer. There are plenty of pots, pans and china and some kitchen/food basics are provided to help you enjoy a meal at home should you wish to do so during your stay. A cool box and ice packs are also available to use for picnics. The two bedrooms are large. The master bedroom has a super king-size bed, the 2nd bedroom has two single beds that can be pushed together if desired. Great care has been taken to ensure you have a good night's sleep the beds, mattresses and bed linen are all of excellent quality. The two shower rooms are fully tiled, each equipped with a basin, toilet, large walk in shower and heated towel rail. A cot (please bring own linen) and high chair are available. Please inform us at the time of booking if you wish to use these. The cottage has central heating throughout and also benefits from one metre thick stone walls keeping it cool in the summer and cosy in winter. There is a garden/sitting area to both the front and rear. The east facing front garden is ideal for breakfast while the west facing rear garden catches the afternoon and evening sun, perfect for evening cocktails and dinner. Both front and rear gardens are equipped with a table and chairs to allow for leisurely outdoor dining. In the rear garden there is a large umbrella and BBQ. There are also sun-loungers for relaxation. Mesves is a very friendly traditional French village with two bars and a well stocked shop which also sells bread and croissants. There is a weekly cheese van in the village square, a mobile pizza van, a chicken rotisserie on Sundays in the summer months and lots of lovely restaurants locally. The area offers outdoor activities to suit a wide variety of tastes. These include wine and cheese tasting trips (a must), canoeing on the Loire, cycling along the velo route, fishing on the Loire, walking, horse riding, golf and visiting local chateaux along "La Route Jacques-Coeur", as well as the many beautiful gardens open to the public in the area. A detailed guide of things to do is provided. The cottage has off street parking. Weekly cleaning, bed linen, towels and tea towels are included. There is a no smoking policy in the cottage. We do not accept pets except guide and assistance dogs.
