Sweet Pea Cottage

The cottage is typical of the Haute Vienne style - beautiful stone structure, lots of oak beams and big fireplace! Originally built as a farm workers cottage the property had a very sympathetic extension to enlarge and modernise the accommodation and we've spent the last 3 years lovingly renovating the whole property. Guest rooms now have the original restored floors, stylish decoration, modern comforts such as FREE wifi and coffee making facilities and beautiful views of the garden and forests beyond. The property is south facing and the guest bedrooms enjoy early morning sunshine and the amazing sounds of the Limousin countryside - what a way to start your day! We have retained as many of the original features as possible throughout the property whilst adding modern style and convenience - the kitchen, still very much the heart of the cottage, is modern and reflects our aim to combine the traditional and new and create a warm, welcoming environment for family and guests. The gardens are extensive and great for relaxing in the sunshine with a cold drink or you can take a blanket down to the big pine, stretch out, and enjoy a picnic! Or stroll down to the banks of the Vienne (only two minutes from the cottage) for a spot of fishing or a swim to cool off before dinner. LE FOURNET is a pretty little hamlet in the commune of Rempnat. Bordered by the Vienne on one side and beautiful forests on the other the area is renowned for it's hiking trails and spectacular scenery. There are numerous typical Nouvelle Acquitaine villages close by - TARNAC, NEDDE, TREIGNAC, PEYRAT LE CHATEAU - and, of course the amazing lakes and beaches of Vassiviere, Bujaleuf and Treignac. EYMOUTIERS - known as the gateway to the Millevaches Natural Park, is only 12kms away with a great choice of cafes and restaurants; supermarket, shops, a cinema and a fabulous outdoor (heated) swimming pool. The railway station has great connections through to Limoges and surrounding regions. The area has an amazing variety of outdoor pursuits all of which are within easy reach of the cottage and we will be delighted to provide information and contacts for all activities from Horse Riding to Kayaking, Water Skiing to Off Road Trekking and everything in between! The guest bedrooms, with private bathroom and separate toilet, are located in the original 19th Century part of the house with views of the surrounding forest. Below the rooms is a pretty courtyard garden with table and chairs for relaxing and enjoing a quiet drink in the late evening sunshine.
