SPACIOUS (42 sq meters each) and fully equipped for self-catering, both apartments are situated on the first floor of a British couples home who live here all year round. Arete is suitable for any season. PRIVATE PARKING and independent access to the apartments give guests the freedom to come and go as they please. 2 BALCONIES PER APARTMENT, a private rear balcony off the bedroom and a large front balcony off the kitchen, shower room, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. AGRO TOURISM, run as a small holding/hobby farm offering the rural experience of village life, we have vegetable gardens, chickens, olive trees, a fabulous flower garden, a walled courtyard and abundant wildlife. LOCATED conveniently but not too closely to the beaches of Maleme, 3kms away, Platanias, 5kms away or a short drive west away from the populated tourist areas towards Kissamos, Kolimbari and Rhodopos. POPULAR destinations such as Paleochora, Sougia, Elafonisi and many more are just an unforgettable drive away, across west Crete's dramatic countryside and coastal roads. IDEAL location for walkers, bird-watchers, history and archeology enthusiasts, offering the perfect base from where to explore or just to relax and enjoy the Cretan countryside. We, the owners Helen & Sean live here on this wonderful island all year round and can give you local information and advice on where to visit and how to get there, where to eat and much more. We happily take guests on local walks around the area and further afield for more adventurous walks, all free of charge. SUITABLE FOR WINTER RENTAL Free Activities at Arete The following activities are offered free of charge to our guests. Trail running 5k to 10k trail runs from the house. Hikes We can either guide you on local walks from the house, or provide you with detailed directions for further afield. Turtle Beach Patrols Join us on one of our sunrise turtle patrols along a 4km local beach and observe how our work as volunteers helps in the protection of the Loggerhead Sea turtles that nest along our shores, from May to October. Battle of Crete Local Tour A guided walking tour from the house to all the sites where Sean will talk you through the history of the battle. Cookery Class A custom cookery class with Helen, choose any dish or number of dishes to cook with Helen, using our own organic extra virgin olive oil, fresh eggs from our hens and vegetables from the organic garden. Mountain Bikes Free use of our 2 mountains bikes,1 mans and 1 woman’s, both with helmets.
