Les Palennes is a officially rated 4*, 50 acre property, it sits on the top of a small hill on its own, with no immediate neighbours, it was originally a working farm, and the stone farmhouse and barns have been rejuvenated and renovated sympathetically to allow our guests to relax and unwind in seclusion. We are only a 10 minute drive to Oradour-sur-Vayres where you will find a choice of restaurants, boulangeries, boucherie, pharmacy, doctors and supermarkets. Rochechouart and St Junien, with more excellent restaurants and shopping facilities are both within a short drive. The Nouvelle Acquitaine ( formerly Limousin) area of France is among the least densely populated areas of France, and this is evident in the vast areas of unspoilt rolling fields, hills and valleys interspersed by streams and rivers just ready to be explored by foot, bicycle, kayak or horse. We can recommend a good riding stable within a short distance and the local tourist office in Oradour-sur-Vayres can assist with bicycle hire to explore the miles of green lanes in this area, and can provide more information on the many local ‘back to nature’ places to explore. There are numerous lakes where for a small daily licence fee you can while away the hours fishing. Many of the larger lakes also have man made beaches, some with lifeguard supervision, where you can swim, kayak, pedalo, wind-surf or just simply relax and enjoy the sunshine. There are closer lakes to us but lake Vassiviere is one of the largest artificial lakes in France and just over 1 hour 45 drive time from Les Palennes. We have 3 gites, all classified 4*. The biggest, L’Etacq is an extremely spacious two bedroom, two bathroom gîte, it benefits from its own private west facing furnished terrace with bbq. Rozel is a ground floor, large one bedroom disabled 'friendly' gite which also has its own private west facing furnished terrace. Both these gites have stunning views and the sunsets from these terraces are simply amazing. Bonne Nuit is a cosy first floor one bedroom gite, it does not have its own private terrace but a short walk from the external stairs to the gite a designated area of garden is for the sole use of this gite. All guests have full use of the swimming pool, hot tub and pool terrace with al-fresco eating area, chimineas and rattan garden furniture, sun loungers and parasols. All bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided and the beds will be made up ready for your arrival A complimentary welcome pack containing luxuries and essentials awaits you and will help get your holiday off to a great start. The nearby towns of Oradour Sur Vayres and Rochechouart have several delightful restaurants and bars as well as supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and pharmacies.
