Le Chat de Pierre is a superior quality gite set among vineyards and plum orchards in the beautiful Lot-et-Garonne. The house and pool are all yours during your stay - no shared facilities - so you can just chill in your home away from home without interruption from other guests or owners. Cool, quirky and well thought-out, the generous accommodation sleeps 8 across 4 flexible bedrooms (twins or doubles). 3 bathrooms designed with a touch of the boutique hotel make sure there are no queues for the showers. It may be hard to tear yourself away from the pool, the sunbathing/outdoor dining deck, the stone-built BBQ, the views across open countryside but when you do you'll find the house to be exceptionally well kitted-out with wifi, a large salon where everyone can kick back and listen to their own music thanks to the blue tooth speaker or organise table football or table tennis tournaments. There's a more intimate TV room with Freesat and DVD player and comfy leather sofas, and a remarkably well equipped kitchen-diner where 8 can comfortably sit around the huge dining table. There are family board games, assorted films on DVD, table football and table tennis along with boules, giant jenga, swingball and an interesting library to keep you entertained. A feature polished wood staircase accesses the three first floor bedrooms and house bathroom via a minstrels' gallery. The bedrooms have a touch of boutique hotel about them, the master bedroom has a large ensuite shower room, the house bathroom boasts a bath with shower and there's a ground floor shower room too. All the showers are powerful and there's plenty of hot water. The nearby village of Saint Sernin offers a bar, tabac/general store, tennis courts and a small weekly market. Duras is a short drive away and has a large and vibrant weekly market, wonderful night markets in the summer months and shops, bars and restaurants and of course the lovely Chateau. The countryside is stunning with vineyards, plum orchards and sunflower fields and is dotted with intriguing bastide towns waiting to be explored. Just 40 minutes away is the medieval city of Bergerac and a little beyond that UNESCO world heritage site Saint-Emilion makes a fabulous day out for wine lovers and history enthusiasts. If you love the active outdoors scene there are tennis courts in Saint Sernin and bicycle hire available in Duras and activities from kayaking, paintballing, golf and even hot air ballooning are in the area. The food and wine is of course sublime and your nearest vineyard is across the road where our neighbours will be delighted to show you round, let you sample the wines and sell you their produce by the bottle or the case.
