Possibly the most relaxing place on earth and only 1 hour from the Sydney CBD

The Milson is no ordinary river house, more boutique hotel. We think it is one of the most relaxing places in the country and all less than a one-hour drive from the Sydney CBD. The luxury fit out includes custom-made and antique elements which combine to create a casual and very comfortable atmosphere. There is no better place to unwind and for those who want to add a bit of action to their stay, you can explore the river using our kayaks and canoes, go crabbing (we catch mud and blue swimmer crabs from the end of the jetty), visit one of the Hawkesbury’s many hidden inlets, spend the day out on the water fishing or head out for a bush walk. The Milson is one of only a few properties in the area that is north facing so we get maximum sunshine on winter days and enjoy the afternoon shade in the summer. CHEF'S KITCHEN, DINING AND LIVING AREAS The gourmet kitchen is set-up with polished concrete benchtops, a 5-burner gas stove, oven and rangehood, a large fridge and freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen comes well-stocked with top-quality pots, pans, knives, Nespresso machine, Aerocinno, Neutribullet and walk in pantry with all the basics (you will receive a full list of everything in the kitchen on booking). There is a seperate dining room overlooking the river and a comfortable lounge with a Belgian linen sofa, chairs with feather cushions and a beautiful Cheminees Phillipe wood burning fireplace. There is also rustic wicker chairs on the deck which can also be placed round the fire pit and a built-in BBQ with wok burner. BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS The Milson has two king bedrooms. Each bed is fitted with luxurious Sheridan sheets, 100% Australian wool underlays (for extra snugness and warmth in the winter), two sets of pillows, a feather duvet, a beautiful alpaca throw, bedside lights and power points. Both bedrooms have equally large ensuites (almost 6 square meters). The back bedroom ensuite has a large stone bath with shower and the front bedroom ensuite has an enormous walk-in shower. Both ensuites are tiled from floor to ceiling with river stones, have custom made industrial copper tap ware, enormous 12'' shower-heads, vaulted cathedral ceilings, vintage cabinets retro-fitted as bathroom vanities and heated floors (heaven in the colder months!). WATER TOYS There's a single and a double canoe, 3 single kayaks, life vests, paddles, crab pots and a couple of fishing rods (sorry, for insurance reasons you will have to supply your own tackle and hooks). PETS We do allow pets at The Milson but they must be approved beforehand. IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION Prices are based on 2 guests using 1 of 2 bedrooms. Each additional guest (above 2 and to a maximum of 4) is charged at $50 per guest per night. There is a charge of $100 per stay for cleaning and linen. Guests are required to leave all dishes clean and placed back in the cupboards on checkout. They must also take all recycling and rubbish with them when they checkout as there is no rubbish services at Milsons Passage. All rooms come complete with bed linen and bath towels for each guest. The Milson comes with wifi and a UeBoom (bluetooth linked speaker) but it does not have a TV, washing machine or dryer. Wood is BYO and can be purchased at Bunnings or at some of petrol stations on the Pacific Highway heading north (e.g. 7-11). We do supply some kindling, paper and fire starters. BOAT ONLY ACCESS The Milson is BOAT ONLY access and there are no roads at Milsons Passage. If you don't have your own boat you can organise a water taxi - please call Neil at the Hawkesbury River Water Taxi. Neil can collect you from the jetty at the Brooklyn train station which is a 10 minute boat ride to The Milson. He can also pick you up at either Kangaroo Point or the Deerrubin boat ramp at Mooney Mooney. There is plenty of free and unlimited parking at the boat ramp and it is a short 5 minute boat ride to The Milson. A water taxi will cost approximately $180 return for 2 people (add $10 each way for each additional person). The water taxis typically run between 7am and 8pm although later pickups until 11pm can be pre-arranged. Neil also offers a package which includes a return water taxi trip for 2 people and a tinny with an outboard motor for roughly $320 for the weekend. Neil has a limited number of tinnys so book early to avoid missing out. PLEASE NOTE The Milson has a strict NO PARTY and NO SMOKING policy. Our neighbours understand that you have come away to relax and unwind but sound carries on the river particularly at night. For security reasons the outside areas of the property are monitored by CCTV cameras. We also have an equally amazing beach house at CULBURRA BEACH which is just over 2 hours drive south of Sydney. 'Culburra House' (also on HomeAway/Stayz) is well-suited for larger groups (sleeps up to 14) with access to 2 beaches and some of the best surfing and crayfish hunting on the south coast! We also have a 3-bedroom apartment overlooking Bronte Beach in Sydney. Bronte is one of Sydney's top beaches for surfing and swimming and located a short 20 minutes drive from the CBD and airport or 7 minutes to Bondi Beach. Bronte is also on the famous Bondi to Coogee beach cliff walk.
