Historically nearer our time, the Normandy Landing beaches, soon to be classified as a UNESCO Heritage site are an hour's drive away, as are the famous Mont St Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, and nearest is the Chateau de Falaise. Paris is a 3 hour drive from Monet's house and gardens in Giverny is 2 hours.
