It is thus considered one of the most interesting natural spaces in Portugal, hosting a high range of fauna and flora species. Bordered by the Coura and Lima rivers, Serra d`Arga is a combination of interesting elements of natural, ethnographic, historical and cultural heritage, strongly related to man, with its inhabitants, in the present and in the past. With a total area of 4 493 ha and a maximum elevation of 825 meters, eight rural villages are located on the slope of Serra d`Arga. The villages of the Serra d’Arga cover three centers: Arga de Baixo, Arga de Cima and Arga de São João. They are typically rural villages, with traditional buildings that support the agricultural activities of the people of the land. The village has a built heritage very well recovered and preserved. The combination of nature with architecture, customs and local people, make the Serra a privileged place to visit. Legends, traditions, festivals and pilgrimages also occupy a prominent place for all those who seek places and unique experiences in communion with heritage, nature and a people with many years of history.
