Characterful renovated home in a beautiful and tranquil location with own pool

This detached cottage is in an idyllic setting on the edge of the picturesque village of Montagny. It is surrounded by vineyards and fields and has stunning views of the countryside. Our nearest neighbour is approximately 150 metres away so it is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax to the sound of birdsong. We fell in love with the house when we first saw it in 2012 and we have renovated it carefully since then while maintaining its original beauty and character. There is a spacious and light sitting room which has double doors at both ends. One set leads directly onto the pool area and the other onto the courtyard. The kitchen has plenty of room for cooking and entertaining, although you will no doubt want to eat outside in the warmer months. There are beautiful views from the kitchen across the valley and you can also watch our neighbours grazing - the cream coloured Charolais cows that is! Leading from the kitchen is a smaller second reception room which we call the snug. This is a lovely place to read or take an afternoon nap. There are three wood-burners, one each in the kitchen, sitting room and snug. They keep the house cosy and warm in the winter, but can also come in handy should the evenings get chilly in the spring and autumn. From the kitchen there is a staircase leading up to the master bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom. This room is full of character set in the eaves with the original oak beams. It has a king size bed with white bed linen and the ensuite has both a bath and separate shower. This room is tucked away from the other two bedrooms which are both at the other end of the house. It would not be suitable, however, for the very young or elderly because the wooden staircase leading to it is a little bit steep. From the snug there is a small staircase which leads to two further bedrooms and a shower room. The front bedroom has a double bed and enjoys wonderful views across the valley. The back bedroom has twin beds and two Velux windows. There is a spacious utility room downstairs with a washing machine and tumble dryer and plenty of room for storage. The garden is extremely peaceful and private with wonderful views in all directions. It is the perfect place to have a snooze or read a book in the shade of the fruit trees after you have had a swim in your own private pool.
