Les Forges - tranquil retreat for two

Les Forges is a charming and welcoming, one-bedroom gite situated in the Normandy countryside. An ideal spot for tranquillity and relaxation. Perfect for a couple wanting a quiet yet comfortable place to stay for a holiday or short break. Les Forges has everything you need to be able to sit back and relax. The house is tastefully decorated throughout to complement its characterful wooden beams and with homely details that make it even more welcoming. The gardens are beautifully maintained and you will have your own seating area where you can relax and enjoy stunning views of the Normandy countryside. It is located in the tiny hamlet of St Georges de Livoye, surrounded by farmland and is a 6 minute drive from Brécey, 18 Minutes from Avranches and 21 minutes from Villedieu- les- Poeles. Les Forges offers an ideal base for those wanting a quiet, peaceful retreat whilst being close to many of Normandy’s tourist attractions and beaches. The friendly owners live next door and are on hand to help with any questions you might have. Entering through double patio doors a step down takes you into a comfortable lounge area that is part of the open-plan living space. There is a large comfortable sofa. A TV is provided which receives UK and French channels. WiFi is also available throughout the property. In the dining/kitchen area there is a dining table that sits 4 and plenty of space to prepare meals. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, washing machine, microwave, fridge with icebox, coffee-pod machine and all the tableware you will need to sit and enjoy meals together. From the living area there is a wooden staircase that leads straight into the bedroom. The bedroom at Les Forges is light and airy. There is a king-size sleigh bed with bedside tables. Also a dressing table, arm chair and built-in wardrobes. The bathroom is located at the far end of the bedroom and is accessed through a wooden door where you will find a bath with a shower attachment, WC, bidet and wash basin. Outside the property there is a seating area with a bistro table and chairs for ‘al fresco’ dining. Sun loungers are available for you to sit in the garden and enjoy the view of the Normandy countryside and there are some trees that also provide shade. The gite is set in a mature garden. A BBQ has been provided. The owners do have a cat who may come to say hello to you during your stay! HEATING: Les Forges is heated by electric heaters during the cooler months. Bedding and towels are provided. Change over day in high season is Saturday. Please enquire about shorter stays. Ferries operate into St Malo (1 hour and 5 mins), Caen, Ouistereham (I hour and 15 mins) and Cherbourg (1 hour and 40 mins). PROPERTY SUITABILITY: The house sleeps 2 adults (one king size bed). A travel cot is available and babies (non-walking!) are welcome. It is not however, suitable for young children. The house is not accessible to wheelchairs and please note there are stairs and a step in the property. Pets are not allowed and the house is non-smoking, however, smoking is allowed outside. PARKING: There is ample space for parking available at the property. LOCAL AREA: Les Etangs du Val de Sée where there is a trout fishing lake. A restaurant in the village of Saint Georges de Livoye is a short drive or walk away. Brécey is 5 km away and you will find a supermarket, épicerie, 3 boulangeries, 4 bars, 3 restaurants, a Tourist Office and outdoor swimming pool there. The weekly market is on Fridays.
