Large painting by Conrad Sehlmyhr (1877-1944)

Conrad Sehlmyhr was born on the island Senja in Nordland (Norway) in 1877. He went to sea when he was quite young and saved money in order to become an artist. He began his studies in Vienna at the age of 19 and later became one of Norway's most well-travelled painters. He painted motifs from all parts of the world, but is especially known in Scandinavia as the northern painter with the ability to capture the lights and colors of the magical nature of Nordland.
