Rone - ETA 2451 Vintage Sveitsisk Automatisk Klokke

Cleaned, Serviced, Lubricated & New strap and crystal fitted.

Rone was a popular Swiss watch brand that did not survive the quartz crisis. I have bought and serviced several of these and find them to be consistently good watches.

This watch has a beautiful signed movement that is running nice and stably and keeps good time. I chose not to replace the mainspring as the watch was fitted with a modern alloy spring that was a little weak but working reasonably well and will keep running for years more.

The case is not in the best condition and the chrome plating is scratched and pitted in many areas. The pitting was so bad that I chose to break with my usual practice and gave the case a very light polish to remove the roughness of the case - I am quite happy with the results.

The dial is in pretty good condition and the crystal is new. The watch has a shorter seconds hand and an unusual dial with a ring of seconds/minute markers further in on the dial giving this watch a unique look.

As a pastime I buy old watches and try to restore them to their former glory. To fund my hobby I have decided to sell some of the watches I believe are ready to be, and should be, worn again. The watches I work on are typically those where the paying the price of a full professional service would be hard to justify. Each watch is disassembled, cleaned, inspected, re-assembled, lubricated (with top end modern synthetic oils), demagnetised and then regulated to run as accurately as possible. If spare parts are needed, original parts are ordered or salvaged from watches with the same movements. New gaskets are installed and, if needed, the mainspring and crystal are replaced and a new strap fitted
