About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for one or more postdoctoral positions in energy transition research. The positions will be financed by projects on hydrogen value chains and other topics related to renewable energy and energy transition. The positions will be affiliated with the ENE Centre at the Department of Business and Management Science

The duration of the positions is three years with possibility for extension to four years depending on the amount of duty work that is agreed upon. Examples of duty work is teaching, supervision and project administrative tasks. 

The department seeks ambitious candidates early in their careers. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD degree in economics, finance or business-oriented fields such as management science and operations research from a recognised business school or university. The ability to engage in discussions on applied research with industry partners will be emphasised.

The Department of Business and Management Science has high ambitions in terms of research and offers a stimulating work environment. The main activities are organised in five broad research areas: i) Managerial Economics and Business Strategy ii) Business Taxation iii) Asset Management and Risk Analysis iv) Energy Markets, Resource Management and Sustainability v) Shipping, Logistics and Operations Management. The ENE Centre offers a research environment with a strong publication record, good career development opportunities and excellent academic networks as well as close cooperation with industry and the government. The centre consists of PhD candidates, young academics and senior researchers working on economic theory, applied econometrics, finance, optimisation, decision-making and policy. The centre and the department together are partner in several large, technology-oriented research projects that focus on energy transition and sustainability, such as HyValue, MarTrans, RenewHydro, Nord_H2ub, Climate Futures and NTRANS


NHH offers

General information

The appointee must comply with the guidelines that apply to the position at any time.

In the assessment of applicants, international experience and qualifications will be emphasised. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

NHH offers the opportunity to participate in a program for university pedagogy, and candidates hired for a four-year position (Assistant Professor) must take one basic module of the program during the fixed-term period. 

Faculty appointments and promotions approved after 1 August 2025 will have Norwegian language requirements, as stated in the national regulations. Postdoctoral fellows must document language proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at minimum A2 level or complete the equivalent of 15 ECTS in Norwegian during the employment period. NHH can also offer courses in Norwegian to postdoctoral fellows appointed before 1 August 2025, who may not initially have Norwegian or another Scandinavian language proficiency.
