We seek a geoscientist for a 20% researcher position at the Njord centre. The task will be to perform research and help training early career researchers in the domains of nanogeosciences and multi-scale fluid-rock/mineral interactions. The candidate will be involved in the NFR Young Talent projects REACT and ChemFrac as well as the UiO CO2Basalt project.
Qualification requirements:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition to be among Europe's leading communities for research, education and innovation. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
- Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in geology
- Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Only applicants with an approved doctoral thesis and public defense are eligible for appointment
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
- Background in mineralogy, fluid-rock/mineral interactions, nanogeosciences, multi-scale electron & X-ray microscopy, machine learning, atomistic simulations
- A background in obtaining external funding in basic research (e.g., FriPro from the Research Council of Norway, European Research Council, EU Horizon programme)
- Background in supervising early career researchers at the PhD and post-doctoral levels
- Work in multi-disciplinary international environments, especially between geoscience, physics, and chemistry
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
