Beskrivelse
NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in the Information systems group at the Department of Strategy and Management. We are seeking candidates, early in their career, with an ambitious research agenda and strong educational skills within the field of Information Systems, with a focus in Digital Business.
The successful candidate is an active researcher within digitalisation, digital strategy, and digital transformation, and preferably has experience with research on responsible digitalisation, sustainability, and artificial intelligence, from a business perspective. Experience related to seeking external research funding is an advantage. Candidates must possess a PhD in information systems or a related field, from an internationally accredited institution.
The faculty at the department is responsible for courses at the bachelor, master, and PhD levels, educating students who are among the most ambitious in Norway. In addition, the faculty takes the lead in courses, modules, and entire programs in the executive education branch, NHH Executive. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong teaching portfolio on all levels, bachelor to PhD, as well as supervision on all levels, including PhD students. The candidate should preferably have experience in developing and running online university courses to an international group of students. Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is strongly emphasised.
Overall, the position involves teaching on average two courses a year, supervision of students, and various administrative duties. Formal pedagogical education and a well-developed teaching portfolio will be emphasised. Candidates that cannot document at least 200 hours of pedagogical coursework when hired, are offered the NHH program on basic pedagogical competence and must complete this program within two years.
We pursue a model of scholarship with impact to generate research orientations that are both relevant and practical, and aim for publications in premier journals, such as level three and four in the Academic Journal Guide (AJG). For applicants that apply for the position of Associate Professor, the department normally requires at least two accepted or published articles that have a quality equivalent to the standard in a journal at level 3 or higher in the AJG or one article with a quality equivalent to the standard at level 4* in the AJG. Articles invited for “revision and resubmission” in these quality journals may also in special cases be considered.
Documented research and teaching skills will be emphasised in the evaluation of applicants. Teaching skills should preferably be documented in part by student evaluations. We invite the best-qualified applicants to present a research paper at a department seminar and/or give a lecture, in addition to an interview. In the assessment of applicants, international experience and qualifications will be emphasised. For the sake of gender balance at NHH, female applicants will be given preference in the event of equivalent qualifications among candidates.
NHH offers
Salary is negotiable according to Norwegian State Salary Scale for Associate Professor.
It should be noted that promotion to full professor in Norway is based on academic merit, with transparent academic requirement on what grants a promotion to full professorship (see here). Norwegian society also takes the well-being of its inhabitants at heart and is a guiding nation when it comes to issues like parental leave and supporting gender-equality, both in business and in academia. It is clearly visible that NHH faculty, both men and women, manage to combine a strong academic career and family life.
In Norway, public health care, public schooling for children and most other public services are free. NHH offers a favourable arrangement with membership in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK), generous research funds for traveling and conference participation, and a bonus system for publication in top international journals. The city of Bergen has a mild and coastal climate and offers rich opportunities for cultural and outdoor activities as well as a family-friendly environment (explore visitnorway.com).
