We are currently seeking experienced Payroll Specialists to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team. You will ensure the complete delivery of payroll processes in Norway for our client while engaging with a wider support team based in India.

Job Description :

As an experienced Payroll professional, you will play a key role in overseeing and delivering payroll operations for all employees across Norway. You will manage and deliver the full payroll cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing while adhering to Norwegian labor laws and tax regulations. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related queries and support the HR team in improving payroll efficiency and driving transformation within the Payroll service line.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and ensure high-quality standards throughout the full payroll life cycle, including end-to-end processing for employees in Norway, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Norwegian legislation.

  • Calculate, process, and verify wages, bonuses, overtime, vacation pay, sick leave, and other compensation elements.

  • Ensure the correct application of tax codes, deductions, and statutory contributions, including pension, social security, and unemployment insurance.

  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports, including tax returns, pension contributions, and annual summaries.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in the payroll system.

  • Resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner.

  • Coordinate with the HR team on new hires, terminations, and other employee changes to ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Cultivate and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and third-party partners.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Norwegian payroll laws, tax regulations, and collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance.

  • Assist in payroll audits and internal controls as necessary.

  • Support the preparation and distribution of annual income statements (A-melding) for all employees.

  • Participate in ad-hoc payroll projects and process improvements.


Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in payroll administration within Norway, including comprehensive knowledge of Norwegian tax and labor laws. Global Payroll experience is beneficial but not required.

  • Subject matter expert in the entire payroll life cycle, pensions (OTP), benefits, social security systems (Arbeidsgiveravgift), collective bargaining agreements, holiday pay (Feriepenger), sick pay, and Altinn, in accordance with Norwegian legislation and regulations.

  • Strong understanding of Norwegian payroll systems, software, and tools (experience with SAP 4/Hana, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow is advantageous).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with the ability to analyze and work with payroll data to support informed business decisions.

  • Fluency in Norwegian (both written and spoken); proficiency in English is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to drive collaboration with international teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' proven experience in payroll operations in Norway.

  • BSc/BA in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is a plus but not required.

  • Experience in managing and delivering payroll for international employees or cross-border payroll processing is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and Norwegian labor union practices.
