Beskrivelse

The position

We are seeking a skilled engineer to join our interdisciplinary team on the ERC-funded LiBriNa project. The position is a fixed term position for a duration of 3 years. This project focuses on developing a cutting-edge optical imaging system to support research within regenerative medicine.

 You must be able to start in the position within a reasonable time after receiving the offer and preferable 1.september 2025.

The workplace is at UiT in Tromsø.


Job description
  • Assist in the design and development of custom optical elements.
  • Fabricate components using micro-machining, lithography, and micro-assembly.
  • Support the construction and maintenance of advanced microscopy systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to optimize experimental setups and protocols.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

Educational Background: Due to the scientific and technical complexity of the field, relevant bachelor, but an advantage if you have a master, in Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required, or equivalent relevant education with the same level and scope.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in lithographic fabrication and micromachining techniques. Expertise with CAD software, low-level hardware control, and electrical circuit design and production.

Experience: Previous experience in a research or industrial laboratory setting, particularly in grey-scale lithography or deep etching, is highly desirable. In the assessment, the applicant's potential will be evaluated based on their final thesis or equivalent project work. Any other technical and scientific work of significance for this position may be given consideration.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We will also take into account motivation and personal suitability for the position.

Language: Applicants must document fluency of in English and be able to work in an international environment. Working knowledge of Norwegian or a Scandinavian language is also beneficial.

Remuneration of the position are in salary code 1085 Engineerer  or 1087 Head Engineerer on the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, (depending on qualifications). There is a 2% deduction for contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. As a state employee, you have one of the best pension schemes availiable. For more information see: spk.no.
