Changes Never Happen Spontaneously
Fra Selim Dorak
This book consists of short essays, which touch upon a variety of subjects. The author writes about the foundations of justice, the mechanism of prejudice, the refugee situation, sexual abuse, the importance of reading books, the instinct for survival in a world overwhelmed by the covid pandemic and other issues.
We are offered valuable insights into the human condition through these essays and the author demonstrates a profound sense of empathy, as he shows our world from the perspective of a baby stuck in a refugee camp with its parents.
The book contains arguments, which should stimulate to a discusson of some important issues in the contemporary world.
Clinical Psychologist and Human Rights Activist / Einar Hjørleifsson
The author provides insight into important scientific issues and reflections through 15 essays in his book. It was very exciting to read the reflections on the distribution of resources in the world, how we should live our lives, justice, and various political systems outlined in the book.
It was also interesting to read about the refugees and the crises they face through the eyes of an author who is an immigrant as well. Let me say that I have also gained some new insights into what it might be like to be a refugee in my country.
In his book, the author also conveys a lot of information on the abortion issue and legislation in different countries. I can say that he took me on a world tour on a range of ethical and moral aspects through his different essays. With this book, the author ignites many existential questions in my mind.

In Changes Never Happen Spontaneously Selim Dorak points at ways out of challenges mankind is facing today. Global warming, wars, food shortage, refugees crises are making life miserable for millions and millions all over the world.
It goes like a red thread through the fifteen essays in the book how essential it is that we treat each other with love and respect and that the way we act and speak are more important than social standing. Selim Dorak’s reflections on justice and aspects of modern life show great insight and invite the readers to take a stand.
